In this
workshop, you will learn some history about labyrinths and how they are not the
same as a maze. Then, you will paint your own finger labyrinth on a 12''x12'' piece of plexiglass. It will be in the Chartres
pattern found at the Chartres Cathedral near Paris,
France which was built around 1200 AD. The picture below provides you with an example of what your finished product will look like.
A
labyrinth is a single path or unicursal tool for personal, psychological and
spiritual transformation. Labyrinths are thought to enhance right brain
activity. A finger labyrinth or lap labyrinth, is a labyrinth design, that
you trace with your finger. It functions in much the same way as a full-size
walking labyrinth, which is to further relaxation, meditation and prayer. The
user traces the path to the center using their finger to echo the walking experience that a full-scale labyrinth would provide. For many, the combination of movement (tracing the path) with introspection, is a relaxing way to meditate or pray. For those whose meditation or devotional
practice seems demanding or sporadic, finger labyrinths provide a unique way to
bring renewed vitality and meaning to these activities.

Sunday, December 18th - Annual Candlelight Service
We had many special guests join us
on this particular Sunday to celebrate Christmas with our annual candlelight service. In addition to many in the congregation who we have not seen in months due to health concerns and life events, we had many of our Sunday regulars join us in this celebration. To help us this evening, we welcomed back Lois Camilleri, who was thankfully able to join us again for this special event. Lois had previously played music for us for years until recently, and we were happy that she was able to play for us again. Lois was accompanied by the vocal talents of Heather Murray who wonderfully led the congregation through the songs.
Wed, Dec 14th: Candlelight Vigil and Meditation
As part of our Wednesday evening meditation, we invited participants to light candles in honour of loved ones in
Spirit. An inspiring night for those in attendance.
Sunday, December 11th - Congratulating Rev. Joan McGregor

Native Drum Making Workshop
Here is some feedback from this event-
"I recently took drum making with Maggie leask and I was so glad that I did. It was so amazing. The compliments at my drum circle never stop as to the clarity and sound of this drum. That particular group was so helpful and kind, a great tribute to your organization and Maggie is wonderful! My question is, that when I drummed at our
drumming session last Fri, other drummers who had Djembes were
impressed with the drum I made & one lady asked who is a Reike
Master, if she could make one the same as mine.
Will there be other
lessons by Maggie in the future?
Thank you for your time.
Carol
Van Dyk (drummer)"
In its early days Spiritualism was usually practiced via gatherings in private homes before starting to branch out to lecture halls and conventions. Spiritualism Churches didn't appear until years later. ...another did you know...
